As some of you may have already heard, yesterday the government decided that, due to the coronavirus, all major festivals will be cancelled until the end of August. Consequently, it is with great sadness we inform you that this year’s edition of Couleur Café will not take place.
Harsh as it might be, this is undoubtedly the only correct decision. The safety and well-being of all our visitors, employees and artists could not be guaranteed and, moreover, organizing the festival might have put extra pressure on the brave people in the healthcare sector.
This is a severe blow for all of us, especially our dear crew members who have been working hard and with limited resources for over 9 months to bring you another unforgettable weekend. Many efforts, sleepless nights, tough calls and long days in vain. We’ll try to get back on our feet as quickly as possible to set up a perfect Couleur Café 2021, which will take place from the 25th till the 27th of June.
Of course this decision also has some serious financial repercussions on an already fragile cultural sector and our small non-profit organization. We may be able to survive this drama, but we will have to rely on the support of the government and all our partners, as well as the goodwill of our loyal visitors.
At the beginning of May we will provide all Couleur Café 2020 ticket holders with the information they need. We thank everyone for their patience.
We thank everyone for the understanding and once again ask you to keep up the good work and strictly follow the prescribed precautions so that we can all smile, dance and party again soon. The festivals may not be there this summer, but we will enjoy each other more than ever.
Lots of courage and strength in these difficult days,
Couleur Café
