“No news is good news”, or so the saying goes. In this case, nothing could be further from the truth. For over a year now, we’ve been fighting for this upcoming edition of Couleur Café. And yet today the authorities still didn’t provide us, the cultural and event sector, with any guidelines, advice or perspectives.
Organizing a three-day festival for more than 70,000 people requires several months of intensive work. The time constraints and current sanitary situation have now made it physically and artistically impossible for us to organize a decent festival. So even though it is the last thing we wanted, the current circumstances force us to announce there will be no Couleur Café this summer.
This decision has not been taken overnight, as it has a direct impact on the financial and mental health of our entire team, dozens of freelancers, hundreds of suppliers, musicians and artists and more than a thousand volunteers. Not to mention the huge disappointment this inflicts upon you, our thousands of loyal visitors, who are so desperately in need of celebration and music. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to restart the countdown to June 24, 2022, when the Couleur Café gates will open again under the Atomium.
Tickets
Of course, all 2020 and 2021 tickets remain valid for Couleur Café 2022. The voucher settlement, which allows you to convert the value of your tickets into credit, has already been extended to 2023. You do not need to do anything for the time being, all ticket holders will personally get an email with their options.
Keep your hopes up
Of course, we thoroughly considered postponing to a later date this summer, or downsizing the festival to a smaller format, but this proved to be financially and artistically impossible. The last thing we want is to offer you a bland version of your favorite festival. However, we never gave up these last few months and are still working hard to bring you an alternative event and thus some much-needed color this summer. For now, we can only tell you that in a few months' time we hope to surprise as many people as possible with a brand-new concept at a great new location. More info will follow.
We thank you again for the support, patience and love. This is a very bitter pill to swallow, but together we can do it. One day life will be like it used to be and we’ll be there to welcome you all back to Couleur Café.
